NEW venues and classes for somatics and yoga (from April 28, 2025)

I’m running four new classes at two new studios in Newquay:

  • Somatic yoga and creative yoga flow classes at the stunning Porth Beach Hotel Studio, which overlooks Porth Beach and has an outdoor area to use in the warmer months.
  • Energy Medicine Yoga course in the spacious Melancoose Barn, which is nestled in a quiet woodland area with an outdoor spa. The venue is near Porth Reservoir about 8 minutes drive from Newquay.

I will continue to run my regular Monday and Friday classes at the Heron Tennis Centre and Shiva Yoga and Pilates Studio. The new classes will start from April 28, 2025. Please see my timetable and class descriptions below.

ABOUT CLASSES AND COURSES

SOMATIC YOGA (unwind)

Mondays at the Heron Tennis Centre, 7.15pm. Thursdays at Porth beach hotel studio, 6pm

Popular, mellow, floor-based somatic exercise sequences designed to deeply relax your nervous system. We investigate the body through gentle yet specific focused movements to unlock muscular aches and pains. The exercises are designed to re-educate the way our brain senses and moves the muscles. These classes help to rehabilitate the body and promote a good night’s sleep.

SOMATIC YOGA (energise)

Tuesdays at Porth Beach Hotel studio, 9.15am, Fridays at Shiva Yoga and Pilates Studio, 9.15am

Uplifting, rejuvenating classes based on the standing somatic exercise sequences. The exercises help us to re-wire our minds to re-balance the posture and functional movement. We learn energising, easy-to-follow, and gentle myofascial releasing movements, which help diagnose where the tension is in your body and to dissolve it.

Benefits of somatic yoga

Both somatic yoga classes (unwind and energise) finish with guided, deep relaxation. They will help you feel connected, empowered and, with sustained practice, pain-free.

The results of regular practice are:

  • Heightened sensory awareness of the muscles

  • The ability to reach a deeper state of relaxation

ENERGY MEDICINE YOGA 4-week course

Wednesdays at Melancoose Barn, 6pm (starts April 30)

Discover how to transform and enhance your regular yoga practice with slow-flow energy medicine techniques. We investigate how energy works in the body and how to balance. You’ll learn a hands-on sensory approach to yoga postures which includes learning patterns like holding, tapping, moulding, sweeping, and rocking. You’ll leave every class feeling rejuvenated.

During this course you will:

  • Learn new self-care techniques
  • Soothe, calm and re-pattern the nervous system
  • Understand how to how energy moves through the healing channels of the body.

CREATIVE FLOW YOGA

Wednesdays at Porth Beach Hotel studio, 9.15am

This is a fusion of dynamic yoga postures, creative sequencing and guided meditation, based on my studies of Power and Hatha yoga. The flowing movements and postures help lengthen and strengthen muscles and improve range of motion in the joints.

The benefits:

  • Improved muscular strength in both upper and lower body
  • Enhanced balance
  • Better joint function

  • £12 drop-in, payment on the day
  • £40 for 4 consecutive weekly sessions, payment upfront

Energy Medicine Yoga 4-week course: £48, payment upfront

PARKING– Porth Beach Hotel has limited parking spaces. There is parking available a short walk away on Whipsiderry Close or on the street outside the Hotel.
