NEW venues and classes for somatics and yoga (from May 2025)

I’m running somatics and yoga classes at  2 sparkly new studio venues in the Newquay, Cornwall area.

I’m very excited to be running  somatics and creative yoga flow classes at the stunning Porth Beach Hotel Studio, which overlooks Porth Beach with a and has an outdoor area to use in the warmer months.

I’m also running a new Energy Medicine Yoga Course, it will be held in the spacious and stunning barn conversion called Melancoose Barn, the studio is nestled in a quiet woodland area with an outdoor spa, near Porth Resevoir about 8 minutes drive from Newquay.

NB* Monday and Friday classes are popular well established local classes, the other classes are launching the week commencing April 28, 2025

Somatics (unwind)

These are popular laid-back evening floor- based somatic exercise sequence classes are designed to deeply relax your nervous system. We investigate the body through gentle yet focused movements to unlock muscular aches and pains, connecting into deeply relaxing the myofascial system. The floor exercises are designed to re-educate the way our brain senses and moves the muscles. These classes help to rehabilitate the body and promote a good night’s sleep.

Somatics (energise)

These uplifting, rejuvenating classes wake up the brain, we help to re-wire our minds to re-balance the posture and functional movement. The morning classes are based on the standing somatic exercise sequences. We learn energising easy-to -follow enjoyable gentle myo-fascial releasing movements .The standing sequences help you diagnose where the tension is in your body, improving your posture which facilitates the breath and your functional movement.

The benefits are of both somatics ( unwind and energise) classes will help you feel connected, empowered and, with sustained practice, pain-free.

ENERGY MEDICINE YOGA– 4 weeks Course

Enjoy a hands-on sensory approach to yoga postures. Learn how energy moves through the healing channels of the body. Discover how to transform and enhance your regular yoga practice with slow-flow energy medicine techniques. Discover how to release and unblock stuck energy in the body’s healing channels (meridians) with hands on movement patterns like holding, tapping, moulding, sweeping, and rocking. Learn how to invigorate the the body, feel enlivened, as you discover how energy works in the body and how to wake it up.

CREATIVE FLOW YOGA

A creative yoga flow class with dynamic yoga postures, Mara is a yoga teacher with 25 years of teaching experience. She teaches a fusion of dynamic flow yoga with creative sequencing and guided meditation — what she calls ‘creative flow yoga.’ She has studied and taught Power and Hatha yoga.

The benefits:

  • Improves muscular strength in both upper and lower body
  • The flowing movements and postures target lengthening muscles and improves joint range of motion
  • Challenges the stabilizing muscles and helps improve balance
  • Help stimulate blood flow and eliminate toxins
  • Strengthen muscles around the joints to contribute to better joint function
  • Enhances mindfulness, improving self awareness and mental focus
