Mara Blackburn is a holistic wellness coach with 25 years of experience in multiple therapies. As well as being a yoga and somatics teacher, she is a wellbeing retreat leader, hypnotherapy practitioner, sound healer and massage therapist, and an expert in deep relaxation and guided meditation techniques.
She holds qualifications in hypnotherapy, hypnobirthing and NLP, sound healing, yoga and Ayurvedic massage therapy, as well as qualifications and experience teaching fitness, surfing and dance. After extensively studying Ayurvedic diet and nutrition therapies, Mara also applies these principles to many aspects of her work.

“After teaching dance, fitness and yoga for many years, I was left with chronic hip pain for which I was told surgery was the only solution, followed by pharmaceutical drugs and long-term physio.
After intensely researching alternative ways to alleviate pain and heal myself, I discovered somatics, hypnotherapy, Ayurvedic therapies and deep meditation.
Studying these therapies and applying them to my own condition helped me achieve pain-free movement. Most importantly, they saved me from the go-to treatments of Western medicine (pills, surgery, complementary therapies) — treatments that I consider invasive, potentially damaging and always the last resort.
These therapies still work for me today. And since I discovered the outstanding benefits, I decided to share the simple techniques and principles with as many people as I could to help them heal themselves. I’ve had some amazing success stories, from getting people out of wheelchairs, helping them live their first pain-free days in two years and helping them live with debilitating conditions like arthritis and Fibromyalgia.
Of course, few treatments are 100% successful. And adopting this approach does demand a renewed focus on your personal health and well-being and a dedication to healing yourself.
